The Public Safety/Campus Police Department at MCLA seeks a Part-time Communications Dispatcher to support the needs of a fast-paced police department. The Communications Dispatcher will transmit messages from a radio communications base station; monitor various radio frequencies; and operate radio transmitting and receiving equipment.  The Communications Dispatcher will maintain records of information including messages received and transmitted, weather conditions, and individuals to contact in emergency situations. Additionally, the Communications Dispatcher will coordinate all radio communication including emergency systems, relay messages and instructions to mobile or fixed stations, and operate public address systems and paging devices.



Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language including proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly; to give oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner; and to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to gather information through questioning individuals and by examining records and documents.
  • Ability to assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with others.
  • Ability to adjust to changing situations to meet emergency or changing program requirements and maintain a calm manner, make decisions, and act quickly in stressful and emergency situations. 


Additional Information:

This is a part-time, non-unit position. Schedule is Saturday & Sunday, Midnight to 8:00 AM. Pay is $21.00/hr.
