The Hancock School District is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Classroom Teacher for our multi-grade 3rd/4th-grade classroom. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where all students can thrive.

Job Summary

The Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to differentiate instruction, create an inclusive classroom culture, and integrate technology effectively to enhance student learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Possession of a valid Massachusetts Teaching License.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, teaching and support staff, administration, and the community.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the United States is required.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Planning & Implementation
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and student engagement that provides opportunities for inquiry-based learning.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and hands-on activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Integrate technology, audiovisual aids, and other instructional materials to enhance learning experiences.
  • Classroom Culture & Student Support
  • Establish and foster a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, collaboration, and student engagement.
  • Create an inclusive environment that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Implement classroom management strategies that promote a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Assessment & Student Progress Monitoring
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support student learning and achievement.
  • Confer with parents, guardians, and support staff to discuss student progress and identify strategies for success.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise and plan assignments for paraprofessionals supporting the classroom.
  • Engage in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to contribute to the success of the school program.

Requirements

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to integrate technology into instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and families.

Terms of Employment

  • Contract Length: 185 school days.
  • Salary: Per Teacher Contract.
