Mount Greylock Regional School District is seeking an applicant to work in the Cafeteria for food services at Lanesborough Elementary School.  The successful applicant will be an individual who can dependably assist in the preperation, serving, and closing of the food services area of the school for every day that students are in attendance at school.  The District seeks an applicant who is able to follow direction, and work successfully and collaboratively as part of a small team.  This is a part-time, school year, benefits eligible position with hourly compensation between $16.69 to $21.53 per hour based on negotiated salary placement and relevant experience at the time of hire as outlined within the MGEA Cafeteria Workers collective bargaining agreement.

Anticipated Shift Schedule:  School Days, Monday-Friday 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM; start date is to be determined at the time of hire.  The position is budgeted for the 2024-2025 school year but there may be some opportunity for work and training on a per-diem basis prior to the end of the current school year.

Specific responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Dish room staff is responsible for all functions of the dish room & serving on the Hot Line daily.
  • Dish Machine: check temperature of machine & document in the temperature log.
  • Place floor mats on dish room floor Sanitizer testing: Monday & Thursdays, please check sanitizer levels for accurate sanitizer level with the test strip kit, see instructions.  Log in procedure book.
  • Fill dish utensil pan for presoaking & place on the dish room counter next to the soaking sink.
  • Place a red bucket next to disposal for use during the day with water, soap.
  • 10:00 – 11:00 Wash all dishes in dish room and Pots and Pans in the 3 bay sinks. Fill Napkins, Straw, Silverware. Sweep and Mop Store Room
  • 11:00 – 11:15 Lunch Break
  • 11:15 – 12:45 Serve lunch to kids and work in Dish room in-between serving lunches.
  • 12:45 – 2:00 Do Dishes in Dish room and Pots and Pans in 3 bay sink, clean out sinks then clean dish room. Take apart dishwasher and clean wipe down all counters and the outside of dishwasher and sweep and mop the dish room floor making sure to get under all counters.

CLEANING PROCEDURE:  end of day cleaning

  •  AFTER ALL DISHES HAVE CLEARED THE MACHINE & IS RETURNED TO PROPER AREA, END OF THE DAY CLEANING MAY BEGIN 
  • SEND DISH MACHINE STRAINER TRAYS THROUGH THE DISH MACHINE DAILY 
  • CLEAN STRAINER BASKETS & PLATES IN THE WATER TANK DAILY 
  • SPRAY FOOD DEBRIS OUT INSIDE OF THE MACHINE DAILY 
  • CLEAN COUNTERS, SINK, MACHINE, CARTS, BAKER RACKS, SHELVES 
  • CLEAN SLIDING STAINLESS WINDOWS DAILY 
  • CLEAN FOOD TRAY RACK/CART SURFACE DAILY 
  • CLEAN SHELF UNDER THE STAINLESS COUNTERS AT WORK STATION 
  • CLEAN STAINLESS DISH CABINET SHELVES & ORGANIZE DISHES PERIODICALLY 
  • CLEAN CAFETERIA CUTLERY STATIONS.

General Job responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Preparing food according to a planned menu and uniform recipes and determining if end product is of best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
- Serving students and staff during scheduled meal periods.
- Takes in money for food and beverage during meal periods if necessary.
- Assume responsibility for storage and disposal of unused foods.
- Assists in cleaning and storage of dishes, utensils, cafeteria equipment and food supplies. Cleans work and dining areas after lunch service has been completed.
-Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.

  • All offers of employment with Mount Greylock Regional School District are contingent upon satisfactory completion of the employment screening process to include SAFIS CHRI federal and CORI state background check reports.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
