Company Description: The Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is an independent YMCA located on 1500 acres in the beautiful Berkshires of Western MA close to nationally renowned cultural and historic attractions such as Jacob’s Pillow and Tanglewood. Chimney Corners Camp, Camp Becket and the Travel and Service Program, Becket Day Camp and the Berkshire Outdoor Center are the five primary program focuses for the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA.
Camp Becket for boys and Chimney Corners Camp for girls are traditional resident camps with rich traditions and commitment to character development. Program offerings are in aquatics, athletics, theater, dance, creative arts, horseback riding, service learning, adventure trips, team building and high ropes. Our Travel & Service Programs offer a unique life experience to teens and our Berkshire Outdoor Center offers a wide-range of year-round programs for individuals, families and groups.

If you want to answer the call to provide the experience our youth need after a challenging year during the pandemic and are excited about being outside exploring the Berkshires this summer—we want to hear from you! Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA (BCCYMCA) is seeking fun, flexible, and motivated Trip Leaders who are interested in co-leading teenagers for 2 week programs focusing on leadership development, service-learning, and outdoor/cultural exploration in the Berkshires.
In summer 2021, the Travel and Service Program is operating four 2-week programs called the Berkshire Adventure and Service Program. These programs will combine day hikes, field trips to cultural opportunities, 2-3 day backpacking trips, and community service projects all in the wonderful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
What you will do:
*Join our training program from June 12 to June 25th for certifying trainings in first aid, CPR, lifeguarding and professional trainings in Leave No Trace, backcountry travel, leadership development, and service project management.
*Co-lead up to four, 2 week programs with your co-leader for groups of 8 to 10 youth. There may be flexibility as to how many 2 week programs you can lead depending on your schedule and our availability to match leaders for each session.
*Leaders will be responsible for facilitating the core components of the program including a leadership training program
*Trip Leaders will live and travel with program participants and support them to have a positive, healthy, and growth-producing experiences.
*Leaders will work with the TSP administrative team to coordinate trip details and carry out risk management policies and procedures.
