JOB SUMMARY: The Body Shop Manager is responsible for the efficient management of all aspects of the Paint Department while maintaining a high level of quality.  This includes developing the daily schedule for each phase of paint.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review Production schedule and develop daily schedules to meet & exceed required dates
  • Train and develop Paint staff to ensure cross-functionality skillsets
  • Facilitates and/or conducts technical training and sends employees to appropriate training schools as needed
  • Limit and reduce rework while maintaining a high quality
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly review of hours
  • Monitor maintenance of Paint booths and equipment
  • Complete all documentation, including inspection sheets
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cost, waste, and production time.
  • Work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Record all hours worked accurately
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are used safely and accurately
  • Identify abnormalities and repairs required as a result of internal actions and advise the Production Manager accordingly
  • Undertake relevant training and development as required

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Adhere to and carry out existing work practices, procedures, and policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
  • Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies
  • Other duties as assigned

INTERACTION WITH:

  • Stock room as well as numerous levels of internal staff within a variety of departments

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of Five (5) years experience in the Body Shop & Automotive Coating Industry

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision

  • Reading abilities required (including labels)
  • Ability to write legibly
  • Follow safety and materials policies and procedures

  • Pneumatic grinding tools
  • Dual Action Grinder
  • Masking machine
  • Putty gun
  • Crane (for painting parts)
  • Full face and half face Respirator
  • Pallet jack
  • Creeper
  • Ladder

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to pass physical exam
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Fitness Exam
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Ability to exert maximum force to pull and carry objects
  • Must be able to climb into, onto, and under vehicle
  • Must be able to make repeated trips up and down a ladder
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, and kneeling
  • Vision a minimum of 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
  • Good hearing
