JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on our fabrication processes including but not limited to CAM/Plasma CNC table, forming, welding and grinding. Developing, implementing and maintaining optimal, cost-effective processes and documentation will be the foundation of this role as well as process improvement, process documentation, quality initiatives and technology acquisition. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards • Confer with planning and engineering concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient manufacturability/production methods • Lead process improvement and cost reduction initiatives • Evaluate equipment and tools for efficiency improvements, monitors OEE • Design and implement new tooling • Work with vendors to determine tool/technology specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, process methods, space requirements and layout • Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions • Assist in quality improvement by documenting problems, determining root cause and implementing preventative measures • Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes. • Troubleshoot part fitment issues and make recommendations for adjustments • Create and update Standard Work Instructions (SWI’s) for documentation of assembly and repair procedures • Carry out process improvement, problem resolution and project management in an effective and timely manner • Create and conduct process training for new and current employees ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Design new products and redesign existing parts for vehicles • Assist with SolidWorks Models/drawings and Bill of Materials • Undertake relevant training and development as required • Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate • Adhere to company policies INTERACTION WITH: • Most departments, including but not limited to, Design Engineering, Production, Facilities and Quality • Equipment vendors | |

EXPERIENCE: • Strong CNC Plasma, welding, metal forming and assembly experience • Capital equipment selection and justification • Visual Management, Day by Hour charts, kaizen, setting up Kanban replenishment and Cell/Value Stream layout • Preventative maintenance of equipment and buildings • Overhead cranes and forklifts • Work as a team with Engineering, Operations, Sales & Marketing and Finance • 3D printing and laser cutting machines a plus • SolidWorks and CAD software skills and experience a plus • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills • Development of standard work instructions and line balancing • Fixture, work holding, tool and gauge design and manufacture • CNC programming and set up a plus • DFMEA experience. • Two (2) years of Manufacturing Engineering required • Four (4) years of relevant experience preferred EDUCATION: • College education or Trade school required • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology or Industrial Engineering preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Positive Attitude • Excellent listening skills • Ability to follow directions • Ability to maintain focus • Meet deadlines • Math skills required (add, subtract, divide and multiply) • Reading abilities required • Ability to write • Strong interpersonal skills • Follow safety and materials policies and procedures • Attention to detail • Work as a member of a team and as an individual PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Must be able to pass physical exam • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. • Ability to exert maximum force to pull and carry objects • Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling • Must be able to climb into, onto and under vehicle • Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses • Good hearing SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: • Lenco Industries supports and complies with all Federal and State Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) requirements.
