Our Institution: Founded in 1860, Bard College is an international network of highly innovative and admired educational institutions grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. A division of Bard located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Bard College at Simon’s Rock is the only four-year college in the U.S. specifically designed for motivated adolescents to fully realize their academic potential by beginning college immediately after the 10th or 11th grade. BA and AA degrees are granted in over 35 areas of study. Simon’s Rock attracts a diverse student population of approximately 400 students, drawn nationally and internationally, with a significant population of students identifying as LGBTQIA+.
The Role: Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, Bard College at Simon’s Rock seeks an energetic, resourceful, and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor for the Physical Plant. The department provides critical support across a 270-acre residential campus with 36 buildings including an arts building with a 300-person theater and various arts studios and workshops; a science building with multiple laboratories; a fitness center with a swimming pool; pump houses and generators; as well as multiple administrative and residential buildings. This leadership position ensures that the campus physical plant operates at maximum efficiency by managing preventative and as-needed maintenance of all building systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, etc), as well as maintaining the College’s automotive vehicles. The Maintenance Supervisor works closely with all campus constituencies, as well as external vendors, and coordinates, supervises, and leads the maintenance and grounds staff.
