POSITION SUMMARY
The position reports to the Assessor and is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties to ensure effective and efficient operations of the Assessor’s Office.

PRIMARY DUTIES
•Provides extensive customer service and frequently interacts with members of the public, federal, state, and/or local government officials, and City employees in person, over the phone, or via email.
•Provides administrative and clerical including word and data processing, filing, copying, scanning, and handling correspondence.
•Maintains detailed department records and updates files as necessary.
•Researches and collects necessary information to determine whether an excise tax abatement may be warranted, including registration information.
•Researches land ownership, land or building values, taxes due or back taxes, etc.
•Inputs permit information into the property database.
•Inputs and verifies property transactions.
•Reviews and inputs additional conveyances and address changes.
•Performs clerical tasks, including but not limited to typing, filing, copying, and scanning.
• Occasionally, research historical data.
•Assists the public with general assessing questions as required.
•Investigates all excise-related issues for the Assessor’s office.
•Maintain real property record card filing system
•Process and maintains applications for exemptions.
•Updates property record cards, and computer records with deed info from the Registry of Deeds.
•Review assessor maps, both GIS and hard copies.
•Composes and types department correspondence on an as-needed basis.
•Assists in the preparation of annual mailings of personal property Forms of List, tax-exempt Forms 3 ABC, and income and expense (I&E) forms.
•Performs related job duties as required.
