Description
The Department of English at Williams College invites applications for the position of a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in postcolonial literature. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in global Anglophone literature; literature of Africa, South Asia, and the Arab world; global indigenous literature; histories of empire and capital. Teaching responsibilities include a total of 4 courses (2 in the fall semester, 2 in the spring semester). This is a full time position.



Qualifications
We seek outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research and excellence in teaching. The Department of English values interdisciplinarity and comparative research and pedagogy, and we welcome applicants who pursue postcolonial studies via a broad range of methodological frameworks. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach courses at both the introductory and advanced levels. We provide faculty with mentoring, including participation in the college's professional development program, First3, for new faculty, and support through the Rice Center for Teaching. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and strongly encourage individuals whose experiences and perspectives will enhance our commitment to academic excellence and innovation to apply.
