Williams College is seeking a creative, organized, motivated and personable Events Manager to join the President's Office team. This person will work closely with the Director of Academic & Presidential Events to execute events hosted by the President and those in conjunction with academic departments and the College Marshal, including Convocation and Commencement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Academic and Presidential Events.
  • Serve as event liaison between campus departments, external vendors, and community members to ensure goals are met on multiple and simultaneous timelines.
  • Support operations and execution of events, including onsite support.
  • Maintain budgetary control over President's House events and partner with academic department liaisons, developing and tracking events with budget-conscious methods throughout the entire planning process.
  • Partner with Director and President's Office staff on event coordination, including but not limited to interdepartmental outreach, guest list compilation, drafting of invitations, creating event identification materials and tracking RSVPs and attendance.
  • Track and evaluate historic events, analyzing and evaluating to maintain congruence with strategic initiative and the college's culture.
  • Occasional support of day-to-day office operations.


Qualifications
  • 3 or more years of event management experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail with the ability to set priorities, anticipate problems, assimilate new information, take initiative and accommodate change independently. The ability to function effectively and creatively as part of a team in a fast-paced working environment, under pressure and time constraints, in a variety of physical settings.
  • Well-developed emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills for dealing with a full range of event participants, and handling extensive public contact with courtesy, tact, discretion and judgment.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office, and comfortable learning new programs and technologies.
  • Design and production of print and digital material/working knowledge of Creative Suite programs is a plus; InDesign, Photoshop, etc is ideal.


The successful assistant will work some evenings, including occasional weekend hours, and have relative flexibility with a schedule. Work environment is split between on-site event support and communal/shared office space (separate workstations in an open-office setting).

Application review will begin immediately, and will continue until the position is filled. Salary begins at $60,000, commensurate with experience. All applications will be reviewed by the search committee.
