TWO leave replacement positions in
Chinese language for the 2025-26 academic year, with teaching to begin in September 2025. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, the appointment will be made at the level of
either visiting lecturer or visiting assistant professor. The teaching load will consist of four courses during the academic year (typically two in the fall semester and two in the spring semester). Depending on staffing, one of those four courses might include a disciplinary course in the visitor's area of specialization. These are full-time positions, compensation for which will include salary and insurance benefits.
The successful candidates will join colleagues in a vibrant Department of Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures that offers three major tracks: Chinese, Japanese, and East Asian Languages and Cultures. The Chinese major requires four years of language study and the East Asian Languages and Cultures major requires three years of language study. More information about the department can be found at

QualificationsMinimum requirements include M.A. in Chinese language pedagogy, linguistics, literature or a related field (Ph.D. or ABD preferable). Candidates should have native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin, strong teaching experience at the college level, ability to teach
all levels of language courses either independently or collaboratively, and ability to work with a broadly diverse student body and to engage students with a range of learning styles and preparations. Experience in team-teaching and teacher training preferred.
