The college is pleased to announce an opening for a Late-Night Assistant Manager.  Reporting to the Sr. Operations Manager of Paresky Dining, the position will oversee and manage the dining needs of students, faculty and community members at 82 Grill, Whitman Late Night, and Lee After Dark.  Required hours will be from 3:30 pm – 12:00 am and include weekends. This schedule may vary based on department needs. The Late-Night Manager will oversee and work alongside the evening leads and supervisor to mentor them. They will address issues that arise, make menu changes for out of stock items, and coordinate late-night staff communications.  They will be responsible for organizing a rotating schedule for employees to become familiar with each detail and operation of their late-night unit, providing proficiency in all staff being trained in all areas.

Complexities of the role will entail assuming responsibility for changes in daily operations and the ability to communicate them to staff. A high degree of organizational skill is necessary to manage and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment. Meeting tight deadlines, the ability to plan and act quickly to ensure customer satisfaction, and independent decision making are essential.

  • Customer service - being on the floor during a minimum of 60% of the weekly work schedule especially during board meal periods in Whitman Late Night, Lee After Dark, and 82 Grill
  • Assists with monitoring and expediting the GET app mobile ordering system; includes the ability to program, update inventory, problem solve issues, customer service, etc.
  • Meets regularly with late-night leads and supervisors to discuss guest counts, menu concerns, staffing issues, and give direction.
  • Ensures that the unit’s FY forecasted budget is operating as budgeted in the areas of food, labor, and direct expense. Reviews PeopleSoft reports on a weekly basis and reviews monthly financial reports with the Paresky Management team. 
  • Responsible for suggesting and giving feedback on menus, forecasting and overseeing ordering on a timely basis using CBORD/FSS System for the ’82 Grill, Lee After Dark & Whitman’s Late-night. Supports sustainable programs by purchasing locally grown produce when possible.
  • Assists with the training and evaluation of staff in the areas of quality assurance, customer service, food safety and appropriate skill level development. Provides monthly continuous training in the areas of food allergens and physical safety. 
  • Ensures proper HACCP guidelines while following the MA Code as they pertain to food, inventory control and sanitation. Ensures that sound environmental practices, including composting recycling and overall consumer waste reduction measures are being adhered to. 


  • At least three years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior knowledge of food service operation including scheduling, food production, service, sanitation, and forecasting preferred. 
  • Strong communication and listening skills are required since many aspects of the job will involve working with diverse staff, faculty, and student populations.
  • ServeSafe Certified and Allergen Training preferred 
  • HACCP federal guideline certification and knowledge of Mass food code preferred.
  • Proficient in computer programs such as FSS/CBORD, BarTender, Excel, and Word are desirable
  • Ability to analyze and interpret individual needs, multi-task, and solve problems while using good judgment to balance the sometimes-competing needs of various stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a larger team, including the ability to work varying shifts
