Alumni of Williams College are known for their energy, enthusiasm, and their desire to get together.
As Assistant Director for Alumni Events, you will be responsible for harnessing that energy and channeling it into large-scale, complex on-campus events for diverse groups of roughly 150-3,000 alumni and guests.
The Assistant Director for Alumni Events is part of a dynamic Office of Alumni Engagement: a team of creative, empathetic, and committed individuals who are dedicated to keeping alumni connected to each other and the college by uplifting and empowering all members of our diverse community.
Responsibilities
As Assistant Director for Alumni Events, you are central to the planning and execution of large-scale events for alumni, including and especially the June Reunion: this annual event brings over 3,000 alumni and their families back to Williamstown for celebration and (re)connection with their college and fellow alumni.
Reunion is the largest and most visible on-campus alumni event, but no less important or complex than many of the other annual events and milestone celebrations that bring alumni back to campus, including Bolin Legacy Mentorship Weekend and Homecoming, among others.
On-campus events should be driven by the college’s and alumni community’s shared commitment to core values, such as inclusion, caring, and accessibility. Your planning and execution for these events will need to be informed by the input, insights, and experience of core partners, including campus colleagues, external vendors, and, importantly, alumni volunteers. As Director of Alumni Events, you are not only an event planner; you are also a community builder, a communicator, and a coordinator who makes sure all stakeholders are included, informed, and valued as contributors to the event planning process.
