POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Gifts & Gratitude and collaborating closely with the development team, the Gift Officer will manage a dynamic portfolio of active donors and prospects. This role involves making initial contact, securing personal visits, and working alongside the CEO, Director of Gifts & Gratitude, and development team to retain existing donors, recover lapsed supporters, and attract new advocates for Kripalu's mission.

The Officer's diverse portfolio will include individuals making personal gifts, family foundations, and key representatives of private foundations. Beyond fundraising, the Gift Officer serves as a relationship steward, building long-term partnerships that sustain Kripalu's transformative work. With Kripalu's exciting focus on expanding partnerships throughout the Berkshires and beyond—including engaging diverse communities and supporting activists for social change—this role offers a vibrant and meaningful professional landscape.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Relationship Management & Fundraising

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of individual and institutional donors while working toward annual fundraising goals
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with supporters who share Kripalu's vision for positive change
  • Identify and cultivate key external partnerships essential for financial sustainability and programmatic impact

Grant & Proposal Development

  • Lead the proposal and grant writing process, establishing realistic timelines and coordinating seamlessly with staff across departments
  • Research and pursue promising corporate and foundation funding opportunities that align with Kripalu's mission
  • Coordinate internal efforts to ensure the right staff connect with foundations and donors at the optimal time

Program Knowledge & Advocacy

  • Develop deep understanding of Kripalu's expanding "Impact" programming and scholarship initiatives
  • Serve as an knowledgeable ambassador who can speak passionately about our transformative work
  • Maintain current knowledge of foundation funding relationships throughout the organization

Strategic Engagement

  • Travel to build authentic, lasting relationships with supporters and partners
  • Participate in event planning and execution, creating memorable experiences that inspire continued support
  • Monitor and report on grant-funded activities, ensuring all deliverables meet funder expectations and deadlines

Systems & Accountability

  • Manage and enhance existing grant tracking systems for maximum efficiency and transparency
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely progress reports and final submissions
  • Maintain organized records that support long-term relationship building and institutional memory
