Associate Degree
Social Services and/or experience with low income housing. - Preference:

Perform unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, apartments, grounds and equipment. Works under the supervision of the Working Foreman who assigns duties and reviews work for effectiveness and conformance to instructions.

- Performs minor building/grounds maintenance such as, but not limited to, removing and replacing glass from windows, hardware replacement or repairs, shades, screens, doors, walls & floors.

- Assists in preparing vacant apartments for rentals.

- Mows lawns, trim around buildings and signs, prune trees and shrubbery, etc.

- Assist with other classifications in removing ice & snow with both hand and power equipment.

- May perform skilled laborer tasks for training purposes with supervision from a higher classification maintenance persennel.

- Assist maintenance department wherever needed, including driving a truck, lifting, loading and unloading heavy objects such as stoves and refrigerators into and out of trucks and apartments.

- Uses a variety of small hand and power tools.

- Repair window shades and screens.

- Prepares surfaces to be painted in apartments and common areas.

- Required to take his/her turn on a rotating "On-Call" yearly schedule after the 6 month trial period.

- Cleans out vacant apartments.

- Performs other job-related work as required.

- General knowledge of building and maintenance.

- Ability to read and understand written instructions.

- Ability to follow oral instructions.

- Ability to deal effectively with other co-workers and tenants.

- Ability to use and operate hand and power tools.

- Ability to complete work orders & time sheets.

- Valid Driver's License required.

- Ability to work in unpleasant conditions such as snow & rain storms, cold and heat.

- Ability to lift heavy objects into and out of trucks and buildings.

- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength, including lifting heavy objects up to at least 50 lbs.

- Climbing stairs repeatedly.

- Climbing ladders.

-Bending and stooping.
