Director of Philanthropy
To Commensurate With Experience
The organization is seeking a highly motivated, self starting, and experienced fundraiser to serve as Director of Philanthropy to lead and grow the giving program. This is a unique opportunity to use your skills to influence and advise on a new fundraising strategy and donor campaign to help continue our mission. The Director of Philanthropy will be the master strategist responsible for growing and expanding the giving effort: creating the annual strategy, organizing the funding deadline calendar, and then actively executing on time and on target to achieve and exceed annual giving goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications and contact plan, and appeal strategy. Regularly monitor and evaluate progress toward goals and recommend new fundraising directions.
•Build and maintain an individual donor program, planning and coordinating solicitations, events and activities to attract and steward individual donors. Maintain stewardship contacts with donors, adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate an empathetic disposition, perseverance, and optimistic and positive attitude. Convey sensitivity to the needs of donors while moving potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure.
•Provide regular gift and cultivation status reports and analyses on donor portfolio.
•Knowledge of fundraising information sources, research techniques, data management and evaluation, concepts and strategies for securing individual gifts and foundation grants.
•Forward thinker knowledgeable about how to interact with donors and potential donors in the social media age.
•Exceptional written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive donor communications. Must have experience with writing articles and with developing social media content. Campaign samples will be required.
•Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of people, and self confidence to reach out to all levels of external audiences.
•Bachelors degree or higher degree from an accredited university or college.
•Philanthropy experience with demonstrated success in cultivation, solicitation and securing of individual, corporate and foundation gifts.
