Job Title: Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Job Summary:

Richmond Consolidated School is seeking a dedicated and qualified Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The successful candidate will implement educational programs that align with Massachusetts state laws, regulations, and early childhood education standards while embracing diversity, fostering a community of lifelong learners, and nurturing a culture of care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adapt daily routines to meet the interests and needs of individual children and the group while fostering a culture of care and support.
  • Develop activities that promote early literacy, math concepts, and cognitive development, ensuring respect for diverse learning styles.
  • Ensure that the classroom environment, materials, and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and safe, promoting respect for shared spaces.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures, including disciplinary policies in alignment with school guidelines, while maintaining a respectful and belonging-focused approach.
  • Maintain and schedule weekly and monthly activities that support learning goals and encourage a love for lifelong learning.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including in-service training and program evaluations, fostering continuous growth and collaboration.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that address the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs of students, embracing diversity in learning.
  • Foster a classroom atmosphere that encourages parental involvement and collaboration, promoting respect and open communication.
  • Provide adequate learning materials and engaging experiences, including storytelling, games, art, and music, that reflect and respect diverse backgrounds.
  • Ensure constant supervision of all children to promote safety and well-being, nurturing a culture of care and support.
  • Build children’s self-esteem through positive guidance, nurturing, and encouragement, fostering a respectful learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress, development, and any concerns while embracing a culture of respect and belonging.
  • Implement positive discipline strategies and conflict-resolution techniques that emphasize fairness, empathy, and a culture of care.
  • Observe, document, and assess children's progress and development, promoting a growth mindset and lifelong learning.
  • Integrate children with special needs into classroom activities in a respectful and supportive manner, ensuring all students feel valued and included.
  • Support students with toileting needs while maintaining their dignity and fostering independence.
  • Oversee Pre-K paraprofessionals to ensure a collaborative and supportive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and other related service providers to ensure a cooperative and inclusive classroom, where every student feels a strong sense of belonging.

Qualifications & Skills:Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) certification or Early Childhood: Students with and without Disabilities, PreK-2 certification.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for Early Childhood Education.
  • Understanding of relevant state and federal laws, including health and safety regulations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Prior experience in early childhood education settings.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
