General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager supporting the development programs for the current and future SSBN Fire Control System. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
As a senior project manager within the Strategic Weapons Control Development Organization, you will work directly with senior members of the program management team to plan, analyze, and execute the programs. You will have direct responsibilities that immediately influence and impact the programs performance and achievement of internal and external deliverables. Representative duties and tasks:
• Develops a cohesive project plan, authorizes the work, and manages cost, schedule and technical performance of projects (products or services) to achieve the plan
• Organizes interdepartmental activities to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget
• Leads department or cross-functional project teams in matrix organization to achieve schedule, cost, and technical performance objectives
• Identifies issues, coordinates corrective action plan, tracks progress, and follows through on implementation of corrective actions
• Supports customers on technical questions regarding project/products
• Leads team in forecasting project cost and schedule completion as required based on performance trends
• Prepares and presents project status to leadership
• Leads team to identify and quantify risks and opportunities; leads risk mitigation / opportunity capture activities
• Develops and executes proposal plans and strategies for assigned projects
• Supports the Development of negotiation plans
• Supports customer negotiations for projects
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Solid knowledge of work estimating, allocation, scheduling, and authorization
• Solid ability to generate cohesive project plans
