General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advanced Undersea Systems Engineering IPT Lead. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Lead a Team to successful completion of tasks/project on time and on budget
Performs requirements analysis and decomposition, requirements definition, and requirements management
Performs technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elements
Develops and evaluates systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
Works under limited direction
Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME)
Frequent contact with external customers
Travel may be required
Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems
Independently determines approach to solutions
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Electrical power/optical background
Team leadership, CAM skills (labor and material budgeting, scheduling)
Requirements development, traceability
Proficient use and understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Proficient written and verbal communications skills

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred
Eligible for Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
