MASS MoCA seeks a seasoned grant writer to advance our ambitious fundraising goals. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the grant writer will be responsible for crafting compelling proposals for a variety of grantmakers, both private and public, in support of MASS MoCA’s special projects, exhibitions, performing arts events, art education programs, economic development initiatives, and building maintenance.

As defined by the National Labor Relations Act, this position is part of the bargaining unit for UAW Local 2110.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals, reports, and other funding deliverables, as directed by the Director of Advancement
  • Work independently and in collaboration with program and advancement staff
  • Research grants opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  • Submit proposals to the Director for approval.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent experience, preferred;
  • 5+ years of relevant experience writing nonprofit grants and proposals preferred;
  • Experience securing six- and seven-figure+ grants preferred;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required;
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required;
  • Exceptional organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources, techniques, and strategies required;
  • Proficiency with Google Suite preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods at desk and in front of a computer
  • Must be able to wear PPE when necessary
