MASS MoCA is seeking an energetic, detailed-oriented museum educator to join its collaborative working environment. Full-time with benefits. The Education Coordinator will primarily support the coordination of education programs and Kidspace exhibition projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Scheduling: Oversee the Ed Dept program schedule (including guided group tours, partnership tours, artist residencies, Art Assembly, teacher workshops, and community programming) in collaboration with the Lead Gallery Teacher; oversee Gallery Teachers’ schedules for tours and ArtBar; work closely with the Box Office on group scheduling and needs.
  • Kidspace Exhibitions: assist Curator of Kidspace with exhibition details; coordinate artist schedules, travel, and housing; organize exhibition promotional information for Marketing and Development departments; maintain cleanliness of gallery
  • Programming: Prep training materials for new exhibitions; assist with designing content of tours and prepping materials for educators, Gallery Teachers and students; coordinate schedules and programming for families through partnership programming with the MCC Culture RX initiative and Department of Children and Families; organize ArtBar boxes and activities for families in Kidspace.
  • Evaluation: coordinate evaluation needs with teachers and students; maintain evaluation records; and plan evaluation of future programs.
  • Grants: assist with grant administration including: oversight of project details and implementation to ensure grant compliance; grant reporting; assist with future planning of grants.
  • Documentation: Maintain group and program participant attendance records, mailing lists, and press clippings; manage Kidspace archives; coordinate program documentation and videos.
  • Budgets: assist with managing complex annual department budget, as well as specific restricted grant budgets, and oversee weekly invoices and contractors’ timesheets; order supplies; writing contracts for consultants/artists/overhires.
  • Gallery Teaching: as with all Education Department staff, conduct programs as needed.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.

This is a full-time entry-level position. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in  education, art administration or art history, and at least 1 year work experience, preferred. The candidate should be skilled as an effective communicator and have strong writing skills; can work independently, but also as a team player; has an outgoing, positive personality and  a knack for connecting with people of many backgrounds. 

Work Conditions: 

  • Position may require extended hours, work on weekends, holidays and for festivals and events

Physical Requirements: 

  • For employment at MASS MoCA, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required for employment.

As defined by the National Labor Relations Act, this position is part of the bargaining unit  for UAW Local 2110.
