Hoosac Valley Regional School District is seeking qualified candidates for daily on-call substitute positions for Grades Preschool to 12 for the current school year. Substitute teachers are responsible for executing the lesson plans and classroom procedures provided to them by the teacher of record. Candidates must be reliable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality and be willing to work in various classroom settings grades Pre K-12. Experience preferred but not required. The expectations for the position are:

  • Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the Classroom Teacher.
    Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans assigned.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
  • Records attendance in accordance with school procedures; ensures students are always attended to and not left without supervision.
  • May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as hall monitoring.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive
    classroom environment.

Hours are 7:30-2:00 at Hoosac Valley High School, 8:00-2:45 at Hoosac Valley Middle School, and 8:45-3:15 at Hoosac Valley Middle School.  Rate of pay is $140 per day. Bachelor's Degree required. License is not required but preference will be given to those eligible for, or in the possession of, a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License in the pertinent subject area or student age classification. Approved CORI/DCF background checks are also required. This is a non-benefited position.
