Bus Monitor - North Adams Public Schools - North Adams

The North Adams Public Schools is seeking bus monitors for summer programs as well as for the upcoming school year. Pertinent information: Will monitor and support students (General and Special Education) during the school bus ride to and from their respective schools. The hours per day vary, the days per week are 5 when school is in session.

Job Goal:         To provide a safe student transportation experience.

Supervision:    Reports to the Building Principal and the Director of Student Support Services. 

Performance Responsibilities:

• Maintains orderly student conduct while waiting for the bus, entering the bus, and exiting the bus.

• Maintains an orderly and safe transportation environment, and reports any student misconduct to the bus driver and Building Principal.

• Participates in training as needed.

• Attends related workshops and meetings as requested.

• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency bus drills.

• Any other duties as may be assigned by Administration.

Salary

$18 per hour

Required:        High School Diploma or its equivalent (i.e., G.E.D.; HiSet).   Must pass CORI check and obtain fingerprint clearance.

Preferred:        Two plus years of prior work experience with children or in a related field. 

Physical Requirements:           The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing steps whenever necessary.  Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects.  The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. 

Environmental Conditions:     The occupant is required to work indoors and outdoors.  Extreme temperature and weather conditions may be encountered. such as snow, wind, rain, and ice.
