Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; Vocational or technical certification in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair, preferably working with emergency vehicles.
- Experience with police pursuit-rated vehicles, fire apparatus, or specialty public safety equipment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic components, and emergency lighting systems.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certifications preferred.
- Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to use computerized diagnostic tools and software.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., work in various weather conditions, and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Primarily works in a garage or maintenance facility, with occasional field service calls to repair disabled public safety vehicles.
- May require on-call availability for emergency repairs during nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work schedule may be adjusted based on operational needs.
