General Description:

The Information & Referral Worker position is responsible for providing information and referrals to callers, potential consumers, family members, and consortium partners. Assists in assessing needs, identifying and linking the most appropriate service and/or agency to respond to those needs.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred, or a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of three years’ experience working with older adults, individuals with disabilities, and/or telephone information and referral is required. Candidates for the position who have demonstrated abilities in human services but who cannot meet these criteria may apply for a waiver.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong assessment, communication and counseling skills
  • Commitment to working with older and disabled adults; strong sensitivity to aging and disability issues
  • Ability to work successfully over the phone
  • Crisis intervention/problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with community resources
  • Ablility to work well with community agencies and individuals in a professional manner
  • Leadership ability; independent thinker; self starter
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using databases

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
