Williams College seeks an HR Functional Analyst to join our Office for Information Technology (OIT). This role is vital in bridging the gap between administrative needs and technical solutions, supporting the effective use of the College's administrative applications. You will work closely with campus partners to analyze requirements, evaluate systems, and design technology-driven solutions that support institutional priorities and operations.

A primary focus of this position involves supporting system enhancements and ongoing operation of Workday, primarily in the area of Human Resources. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who can translate functional requirements and complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and stays curious about new tools and technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Partnership: Serve as a bridge between campus partners (primarily in Human Resources) and technical teams to translate institutional needs into sustainable technical solutions.
  • Systems Analysis & Process Design: Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of business processes within the Workday ecosystem, ensuring they are user-friendly, efficient, and accessible for the Williams community.
  • Implementation & Coordination: Collaborate with functional subject matter experts and OIT technical staff to implement solutions, optimize configuration, manage data integrations and reporting, and support the rollout of new Workday functionality.
  • Relationship Management: Build strong, trust-based relationships across departments, proactively addressing concerns and supporting the campus community through technological change.
  • Solve Problems: Provide high-level technical support and troubleshooting for administrative applications in close coordination with both technical and functional teams.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for all new and updated functionality to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
  • Clear Communication & Documentation: Facilitate transparent communication regarding system updates and create accessible technical documentation to bridge the gap between technical complexity and functional understanding.
  • Continuous Improvement & Research: Proactively research evolving system capabilities and emerging technology trends to identify and recommend opportunities for institutional improvement.


Requirements:
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant experience in business or systems analysis (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Relevant experience includes involvement in recruiting, hiring & onboarding, job & position management, benefits, orand payroll.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of administrative software systems and data integration; experience gathering requirements, analyzing business processes, and creating user-friendly documentation.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Strong ability to investigate technical issues, identify data gaps, and design efficient solutions in a proactive manner.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written skills with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for a diverse community.
  • Adaptability & Organization: A self-motivated, detail-oriented learner capable of managing multiple deadlines and staying current with evolving technologies (e.g., Workday).
  • Teamwork: Ability to work productively both independently and as part of a service-focused, cross-functional team.
  • Location: Ability to work on campus three or more days per week and reside in MA, NY, CT, or VT.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience working in higher education strongly preferred
  • Experience implementing and maintaining cloud administrative applications like Workday
  • Experience with reporting and data integrations


Application review will begin on April 13, 2026. Pay ranges from $90,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience. This full-time, year-round position is eligible for Williams College's robust benefits package designed to support you in your work and overall health and wellness.
