The Williams College Facilities Department is pleased to announce an immediate opportunity for a full-time (40 hours per week), year-round Lead Window Washer/Lead Custodian role.

Under the general direction of a Custodial Manager, this position will be responsible for cleaning windows; inside and out, on all campus buildings. Additionally, they will direct up to 10 staff members in the day-to-day custodial operations of all campus buildings. The Lead Custodian manages time off requests, monitors overtime, enters work orders, performs building inspections and reports problems. Additional responsibilities include general cleaning, light maintenance work, snow shoveling in the winter, carpet and floor care, bed making in the summer conference season and other duties as assigned.

The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 5:30am to 2:00pm.

Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Cleans windows, sills and casings on windows
  • Responsible for reporting broken windows or any repairs needed to the windows, casing to sills, as well as any related damages/necessary repairs to buildings
  • Assist with scheduling, set-ups, record keeping, and inspections of an assigned area and staff
  • General cleaning throughout designated areas on campus
  • Light maintenance work
  • Snow shoveling in the winter
  • Bed making in the summer conference season
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, plus minimum 2 years of relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Experience in general cleaning, maintenance, carpet and floor care is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Ability to comply with standing instructions provided by operating manuals, safety data sheets, safety rules and regulations for personal protection and safety regarding equipment and chemical usage.
  • Use of lifts, and/or staging is required
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and sanitizing dispensing units.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds independently and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to utilize wearable equipment
  • Must maintain a valid MA driver's license
