Location: Saint Agnes Academy, Dalton, MA

Hours: Approximately 8:30-1:00, Monday through Friday (Some flexibility possible)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:     Cook/Manager 

Job Goal: To serve the students healthy, attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth.

Supervision: Reports to the Principal.  Supervises the cafeteria staff.  

Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:

Required: Demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of the tasks listed.  Two (2) or more years of service as a cook/baker or equivalent. Serve Safe Certified.

Preferred: Three (3) or more years of previous service as a cook/baker or equivalent.  

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Bakes and/or cooks the food for our School Lunch Program.
  • Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
  • Performs major cleaning of the kitchen, freezer, walk-in, storeroom, etc.
  • Assists in the daily cleanup of the kitchen.
  • Assists in the general operation of the kitchen ( pots, tables, dishroom) during meal service periods.
  • Receives and stores deliveries, rotating stock for freshness.
  • Plans meals in accordance with the Academy, DESE, State and Federal requirements
  • Serves lunch.
  • Attends all required training mandated by the State or Federal Government or as directed by the Principal.
  • Orders or purchases all food, including taking full advantage of all DESE programs
  • Completes all DESE and Government reporting requirements.
  • Maintains daily records of student participation in lunch program via computer program in use
  • Monitors and reports revenue and expenses of the program on a bi-weekly basis to the Principal
  • Performs special catering functions during and after school if requested by the Principal.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily temperature checks on all refrigeration units.
  • Prepares production sheets.
  • Schedules cafeteria staff.
  • Conducts monthly inventory.
  • Acts as a Mandated Reporter (Chapter 119, Section 51A).
  • Complies with the Emergency/Crisis Intervention Procedure.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned by Administration or Pastor.

Special Knowledge/Abilities For Position

Interpersonal and customer service skills.  Must be able to work independently.  Must be able to 

comprehend verbal and written instructions.  

Physical Requirements:

The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and 

step stool whenever necessary.  Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body 

movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects.  The 

position requires lifting of objects of 40 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 40 pounds 

occasionally.  There may be frequent requirements of fine motor manipulation.

Environmental Conditions:

The occupant is required to work indoors.  The regular chemical solvents used are cleaning 

fluids.  The occupant is exposed to extreme heat/cold changes.  The occupant is expected to have 

gloves and respiratory protection when necessary.
