The Hancock School District seeks a full-time Long Term Substitute Classroom Teacher to lead our combined Preschool/Kindergarten classroom in our small, supportive PK–6th grade school. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a close-knit educational community that values creativity, collaboration, and the whole child.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will plan, organize, and implement a developmentally appropriate instructional program that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth for students in both preschool and kindergarten. Instruction will reflect best practices for early childhood education, integrating play-based learning, early literacy and numeracy skills, and hands-on exploration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching License (Early Childhood: PK–2, with or without Special Education)

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with young children, families, teaching and support staff, administration, and the community

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Computer proficiency

  • U.S. citizenship, residency, or work VISA required

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver a balanced program of instruction, creative play, movement, and hands-on exploration that meets the developmental needs of preschool and kindergarten students.

  • Create and maintain a warm, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that supports each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth.

  • Facilitate activities that promote early literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and social skills.

  • Observe, assess, and document students’ progress in all developmental domains.

  • Adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet individual needs and learning styles.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support student success.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to share progress, address concerns, and foster strong school-home partnerships.

  • Prepare lesson plans and curriculum aligned with district and state guidelines.

  • Integrate technology, audiovisual aids, and other tools to enhance instruction.

  • Provide and manage a variety of materials and resources that encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.

  • Supervise and plan assignments for paraprofessionals as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the school.

Terms of Employment: Position opens January 2026 and runs through the last day of the 2025 - 2026 school  year.

 Salary: Per Teacher Contract
