Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
As a production and Installation Engineer for the Fire Control Program working COLUMBIA/Dreadnought, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for supporting installation and test of Tactical and Training Equipment on submarines and shore facilities. You'll also be responsible for participating in installation activities with a multi-functional team in both the US and UK. In your efforts, you'll be responsible for coordinating with many teams internally and externally to determine solutions for your assigned efforts.
Production & Installation Engineering Support responsibilities fall into several main categories. Some of the broad categories of support includes:
- Processing of Engineering Instructions that drive Engineering requirements for procurement to Supply Chain.
- Coordinating responses to resolve site issues, often requires being the bridge between site and the broader engineering disciplines to ensure issues are resolved in order to meet installation needs
- Includes Problem report adjudication, TQ Responses, CPR Responses, CCB Reps for Installation, processing and chasing approval for Waiver/Deviations for the sites, etc.
- Coordinating needs for site during new construction (i.e. ship checks, site verifications, etc)
- Coordinating material to sites
- Both GFE and in response to failures/consumable needs, coordinating GFIMS inputs and deliveries, Conex deliveries and returns, DD1149 generation, import/export from UK, etc.
- Maintain sold off but not yet delivered equipment.
- Ensuring sites have requisite documentation to facilitate installation and checkout
- Drawings/ODs, COIIs, etc.
- Tracking acute and long-term activities
- Class 1 Change Order authoring and approval, COIIs coordination/tracking, LOA coordination/execution, etc.
- Taking a vested interest in continuous improvement such as adjudicating new construction lessons learned and implementing solutions.
- Lessons Learned, Trend Analysis of failures, deep dives, tool/database management of Logger Instances, etc.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with understanding of drawings and schematics
- Understanding of deployment schedules and dependencies
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
- The preferred candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a "can and will do" attitude
- Command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and Power-Point
- Creative thinker capable of evaluating a design and determining how best to install and test that design
- Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success
