Hoosac Valley High School  is seeking an Administrative Assistant to work with the principal.    This position is 35 hours per week/52 weeks per year.

Responsibilities:

The Administrative Assistant at the High School assists the Principal and the Assistant Principal by performing a variety of complex tasks and routine administrative secretarial duties. The position requires the ability to serve effectively in a front-facing secretarial role, which includes interacting daily with faculty, staff, parents, and community members to affect a positive school atmosphere, as well as the capacity to assist in directing and coordinating the work flow and activities processed through the school's main office. The Administrative Assistant must work effectively in a broad framework of policies and procedures, and at times with only limited supervision. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of school site operations and administrative procedures, a high-level knowledge of secretarial skills, the ability to work closely with the high school administrators, and the capacity to function effectively in settings that are collaborative, yet at times, highly independent.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide a high level of administrative support to the elementary school administration through daily communications and supporting the overall workflow of the office.

- Serve as the front face of the high school office providing exemplary support and serving as a resource for teachers, students, parents and the general public on policies, procedures, and activities. Screen and greet visitors; assist students.

- Maintain knowledge on school and district policies, databases, procedures, daily activities, and an overall understanding of the operations of the school and duties of the high school administration.

- Collaborate and coordinate with other school administrative assistants in regards to students and student record information.

- Prepare and monitor academic calendars, notices, and daily information including faculty/student attendance, school/campus travel, building usage and requests.

- Facilitate the issuance of student and school-related information including new student registration, report cards/grading information, and student scheduling.

- Collaborate effectively with the Principal as needed in supporting substitute coverage, student and parent communication, and other relevant student-related tasks.

- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

- Order supplies and materials.

Job description includes other office duties as determined by the high school administration.

Knowledge & Skills:

Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships with all staff, families, agencies and other districts;

Knowledge in Powerschool and DOE site 

Must have good human relation skills and be able to communicate well with others;

Attention to detail and follow through to meet deadlines and commitments;
