The Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is an independent YMCA located on 1500 acres in the beautiful Berkshires of Western MA close to nationally renowned cultural and historic attractions such as Jacob’s Pillow and Tanglewood. Chimney Corners Camp, Camp Becket and the Travel and Service Program, Becket Day Camp and the Berkshire Outdoor Center are the five primary program focuses for the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA.

Camp Becket for boys and Chimney Corners Camp for girls are traditional resident camps with rich traditions and commitment to character development. Program offerings are in aquatics, athletics, theater, dance, creative arts, horseback riding, service learning, adventure trips, team building and high ropes. Our Travel & Service Programs offer a unique life experience to teens and our Berkshire Outdoor Center offers a wide-range of year-round programs for individuals, families and groups.

We are conveniently located off Route 8 past Jacobs Pillow; 15 minutes from center of Lee.

Summary of the Position  The Programs Coordinator, as part of the BCCYMCA program team supports the planning and implementation of all BCCYMCA programs, and will also serve as a key leader of a core program area.

Salary and Benefits: $38,000 - $44,000 based on experience. Exceptional benefits including generous paid time off, medical and dental insurance, 12% employer contribution to retirement plan, company paid disability and life insurance. Hours: Exempt position; minimum of 40 hours per week. Housing provided in order to meet requirements to live on-site for program delivery.  Must be flexible to work evening and weekend hours to meet the demands of our programs. Consideration for flexible work schedules during times when programs are not operating

Essential Job Functions: As a member of the program team, you will have responsibilities within each of the following focus areas:

  • Program Planning and Innovation- Participate in the collective work of planning, preparing and implementing industry-leading programs for Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA. Serves as a key decision-maker and planner in one or more core program offerings such as high ropes, aquatics, off-camp travel, or leadership development.
  • Participant Recruitment and Communications - In coordination with the Program Team, support the annual plan for ensuring all programs are fully enrolled. Participate in the coordination and execution of recruitment efforts for all programs.
  • Staff Recruitment, Hiring, Onboarding, and Training - Participate in the annual plan and chart of work for the recruitment, hiring and training of all seasonal staff. Supervise up to 30 seasonal program staff.
  • Program Resource Management - Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment ,merchandise, placing orders and ensuring all are cared for and stored appropriately. Communicate program and facility needs to supervisors.
  • Program Leadership - Serve as a key leader during active program delivery and work together with the Program Team to support overall leadership coverage for all programs.

  • Associates degree with one to three years experience or High School degree, GED, or HiSET with 3-5 years of relevant prior experience required.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of BCCYMCA and an ability to implement this mission through the programs offered now or in the future at Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including strong public speaking skills), organizational skills, confidence, and willingness to interact in a positive and motivational manner with peers and guests.
  • A thorough understanding of diversity and inclusion issues and a commitment and passion for equity work.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team, collaborate and take direction.
  • Ability to travel abroad as needed.
  • Be willing and able to live on-site during program delivery periods and as needed throughout the year. Private housing will be provided.
  • Good character, judgment, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Competency with social media platforms. Experience with Adobe products is a plus.
  • Vali driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be flexible to work evening and weekend hours to meet the demands of our programs.
