Drury High School is seeking a Coordinator of Specialized Programs. This position is for the school year only and is subject to the North Adams Teacher's Association contract.
Job Goal:To work in collaboration with the Principal and Director of Student Support Services to provide leadership and operational oversight for the district’s secondary specialized programs
To assist the Principal and Director with oversight of program operation in accordance with school, district and state policies; evaluating efficacy of programs, maintaining safety of school environment; coordinating site activities; communication of information to staff; addressing situations, problems and/or conflicts, employee evaluations, and representing the school in the community
Supervision:Reports to the Principal and the Director of Student Support Services; Supervises personnel as designated by the Principal or Director of Student Support Services
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Establishes and promotes high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior
2.Models cooperation, collaboration, and positive interactions with students, staff and community by exercising initiative, diplomacy, courtesy, discretion and good judgment
3.Assists the Principal and Director in the selection, supervision and evaluation of all program staff
4.Assists the Principal and Director with administrative functions of the program as assigned, including but not limited to; scheduling, standardized testing, student activities, new staff orientation, school safety and security, emergency procedures, instructional field trips, assembly and special programs, and other areas as necessary
5.Utilizes a working knowledge of and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations (particularly IDEA and 603 CMR 23), and local policies and procedures
6.Facilitates meetings, processes, etc. for the purpose of meeting curriculum guidelines and/or ensuring that state mandates are achieved
7.Assists in the implementation of the school emergency plan in order to establish and maintain a safe and orderly environment
8.Participate in special education team meetings
9.Participate in evaluation, development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
10.Oversee the delivery of special education and related services to children with Individualized Education Programs
11.Maintains positive parental contact and out-reach
12.Serves as resource person and master teacher for the purpose of instruction
13.Provides leadership in curriculum development and implementation and necessary accommodations and modifications
14.Assists in the development of staff in-service and professional development programs
15.Assumes responsibility in conjunction with the Principal for administering all student matters relating to discipline, infraction of rules and regulations as they apply to specialized programs
16.Resolves disciplinary issues in a fair and just manner with a focus on alternatives to school suspension whenever possible; maintains accurate and complete records of any disciplinary action taken
17.Holds re-entry meetings with students and families as necessary
18.Helps interpret the specialized programs to the community
19.Works with community and government agencies on problems relating to social/emotional well-being
20.Works such additional time beyond the regular school day as required and performs any duties related thereto
21.Any other duties as may be assigned by Principal or Director
