Our client, a non-profit, serving Berkshire County residents with disabilities, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an Intake Specialist. The Intake Specialist will provide information, referrals, and oversee the intake processes for those in need of services. This position is based in their Pittsfield office but has the potential to be a hybrid position with at least 3 days a week in the office. The Intake Specialist also provides other valuable information on additional community resources to the consumers that they serve.

This is a consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, nonresidential private non-profit agency that is designed and operated within a local community by individuals with disabilities. Fifty-one percent of the Board of Directors, staff and decision making/management staff are persons with significant disabilities. The agency provides five core services: individual and systems advocacy; information and referral; independent living skills training; peer counseling; and transition services.

Sampling of Intake Specialist duties:

  • Answering phones and greeting walk-in consumers
  • Provide needs assessment to determine if and what services and/or referrals are most appropriate
  • Seek out and attend community fairs and interagency meetings within Berkshire County
  • Develop relationships and build community resource alliances
  • Facilitate maintenance of referral database
