Library Director

The Town of Peru is a small rural town located in Berkshire County,  Massachusetts, the Library serves a poplation of approximately 835 residents. The Library has recently submitted to the MBLC it's 2026-2030 Strategic Plan.

The Library is currently looking for a part time director for 10 hours a week at $20.00 per hour

The Library Directors responsibilities are as follows: Responsible for all areas of the library, including library services, material selection, weeding and collection development, purchasing, budgeting process, bill paying and working with an outside accounting firm, all annual reports including ARIS, other MBLC reports, annual 501 (c) 3 reports to the state. Maintain library website and report to the Board of Trustees.

The candidate must have a general knowledge and experience with library principles.

Bachelor's degree or Bachelor's degree acquired within 3 years of hire.

Massacusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) Basic Library Techniques training completed within 5 years of employment.

Must have leadership qualities, be highly motivated and have a clear vision for the needs of a small rural library.

Strong writing, communication and technical skills

Should be familiar with state regulations and reporting requirements for 501(c)3 non-profit organizations.
