Internal Communications Manager
Division: Foundation/Risk Mgt
Reports to: Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility
Location: Pittsfield or Greater Boston, MA

The internal communications manager plays a critical role in our ability to deliver on that promise by handling all internal and corporate responsibility communications creating consistent and engaging content across a variety of mediums.
Advance internal communications by executing an internal communications plan, under the direction of management, which motivates and inspires employees. Collaborate with key departments including Human Resources, Marketing and other senior leaders to develop organizational messages and keep staff informed of developments. Serve as strategic business partner to departments advising on internal communications tactics, objectives and best practices.
Plan, write, and edit content for a variety of internal communications mediums including staff intranet, bi-monthly newsletter and regular email communications. Develop presentations and content for internal employee calls and meetings. Design and deliver internal communication campaigns, including in-person and telephonic opportunities that help define and nurture Berkshire Bank’s corporate culture. Improve frequency, clarity, consistency, and alignment of all internal communications serving as a single point of contact for all enterprise level internal correspondence. Distribute all communications using appropriate channels so they foster a culture of understanding and awareness.
Measure effectiveness of all internal communications and tactics to help prioritize resources and set short and long term objectives along with department leadership. Continually deepen knowledge on internal communication best practices and make recommendations to senior management on opportunities to enhance our strategies. Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
Support development of external corporate responsibility & culture communications including press releases, website, and social media content. Write content for annual BHLB Corporate Social Responsibility Report. Collaborate with senior management as well as Investor Relations, Human Resources and Marketing on all external strategies. Assist with other special projects and corporate responsibility initiatives as assigned.
Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one’s duties.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
5+ years’ experience developing corporate communications or public relations for diverse internal & external audiences
Experience working in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines
Skills & Knowledge:
Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading and interpersonal skills with proven ability to source stories and content from a variety of internal and external sources
Creative, strategic, detail oriented, highly organized, and professional
Self-starter, fast learner and adaptable with ability to work independently and as part of a team
