Description
The Williams College Department of Anthropology and Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track sociocultural anthropologist whose expertise would complement those of the current faculty. We seek a scholar engaged in empirically grounded and theoretically innovative ethnographic research and publication, with clear plans for future scholarship and a thoughtful approach to pedagogy. Thematic and regional specialization are open. We are especially interested in anthropologists whose work addresses questions of environment, language, or indigeneity, as well as those whose work is situated in Africa, Southeast Asia, South America or the Middle East. We welcome as well applicants whose work involves film or other media. In addition, Williams College is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. We strongly encourage candidates from under-represented identities and others who will contribute to the diversification and enrichment of ideas and perspectives to apply.

Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester as well as a Winter Study course every other year, along with participation in departmental and faculty governance. Williams offers faculty mentoring support, resources for research and attending conferences, participation in professional development programs, and pedagogical support through the newly established Rice Center for Teaching.
