Title of the position
Director of Conference Sales
Primary responsibilities of the Catering Manager are working with the other departments to ensure that all details of upcoming events are managed in accordance with the client’s requests and resort rules. Wedding responsibilities include all aspects of selling wedding ceremonies, receptions and lodging while working in conjunction with the sales managers to maximize event space and lodging revenue. Weekends and holidays are required.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred but will consider experience. A minimum of 5 year food and beverage and customer service experience.
Full Time Year Round (pay TBD)
JOB TASKS AND FUNCTIONS:
Maintain contact with meeting and event planners for receipt of appropriate agendas, meal choices, room setup and diagrams, food & beverage guaranteed and signed final Banquet Event Order (BEO).
Manage weekly function meetings to review all details of upcoming events.
Conduct final walk through of meeting space and be present during the event for client needs.
Manage all aspects of on-site wedding planning. Starting from initial visit through the final reception.
Create a detailed BEO for all weddings including on-site contacts, meal choices, and time-lines. Distribute to the appropriate departments
Attend off-site events, such as wedding trade shows and local networking and industry events. Some travel required.
Build relationships with local vendors involved in weddings and events.
Responsible for growing wedding business including but not limited to lodging and food and beverage revenue.
Be abreast of current and upcoming wedding trends. Present a detailed plan yearly to management for updates to wedding services.
Skills and Specifications
Event planning and/or banquet experience required.
Customer serviced oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism in person, by email, and by phone.
Strong ability to clearly and effectively create and deliver content to intended audience, with both oral and written communication.
Ability to remain organized and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and assignments from a variety of staff at once. Time management is essential.
Computer proficiency with:
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Outlook)
Social media and online networking
Knowledge of BEO systems and/or event management software
Able to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member
Ability to conduct research and organize data
Able to work nights, weekends and holidays
Valid driver’s license
Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
