As the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance Technician, you’ll coordinate and perform cross functional tasks in support of the operations/manufacturing organization. Basically, you’ll be responsible for specialized tooling used to manufacture the products produced in Pittsfield while also having an opportunity to participate in the development and support of manufacturing methods for those same products. This will entail interfacing with engineering departments, quality control, manufacturing, purchasing or other groups as required in order to complete project plans. It’s a challenge that will put your talent in the spotlight.
Duties and Tasks:
- Performs advanced electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process
- Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings
- Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts
- Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required
- May perform advanced equipment modifications as directed by Manufacturing Engineers
- Assists in the procurement of parts and materials
- Provides status reports to management
- Utilizes and maintains preventative maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment per recommended schedules
- May provide direction to other employees and mentors as appropriate
- Documents procedures, process qualifications, work instructions, shop aids, etc.
- Performs tasks in support of the operations/manufacturing organization
- Work may require the application of standard engineering principles and methods to the solution of process/production problems
- Support implementation of new manufacturing systems including generating supporting operational documentation under the direction of an engineer
- Assist engineering in the evaluation of new manufacturing systems
- Interfaces with engineering departments, quality control, manufacturing, purchasing or other groups as required
- Defines and documents equipment calibration requirements
