The Nuclear Security Program provides advanced capabilities for our Navy’s Nuclear Strategic deterrent.   As a member of this multi-disciplinary team, you will work with the Navy and Industry partners to develop innovate capabilities to carry out a critical national security mission to protect our country.


As a Systems Engineer on this program, you will be responsible for responsible requirements development, system design, integration & test of a Command-and-Control system that integrates multiple sensors and COTS IT devices into an overall networked solution. You will work with a talented group of GD engineers where you can use and grow your skills with IT technologies, Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile (SAFe), and DevOps.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration & test, validation, interface definition studies of subsystem or system elements
  • Create Models and Simulations
  • Perform technical, cost and risk analyses and planning for subsystems and system elements
  • Perform technical project planning for subsystems and system elements
  • Develop and evaluate systems, networks, and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
  • Perform installation planning for subsystem and system elements
  • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Investigate and resolve technical problems during design, test, and installation.


Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.


CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
