As an Expeditionary Fast Transport Systems Engineer, you’ll participate in requirements analysis, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification) in the development and evaluation of networks and information systems. What you’ll experience: Technologies that aren’t just top-notch, they’re often top-secret A team of bold thinkers committed to exploring what’s next Opportunities to gain new knowledge - as it’s discovered Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills Troubleshooting emergent production issues remotely and in shipyard environment as required Opportunities to lead project efforts and maintain schedule tracking of activities on assigned program Support of deliveries and milestones in support of program schedules Develop and evaluates systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues Identification, analysis, and resolution of system design weaknesses Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department Contact outside Engineering or with external customers Travel may be required up to 20% What you bring to the table: A Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree; Agile experience preferred Solid knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles and theories Solid knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools Familiarity with technical standards Proficient in AutoCAD Self-starter with the ability to execute tasking with minimum supervision or direction Considerable awareness of business objective and Engineering role in achieving Exercises creative thinking and ideation to advance business performance Delivers innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and able to handle more complex assignments Proficient understanding of Microsoft Windows Desktop (Windows 7, 10) and Server (2008, 2016) technologies Considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Excellent written and verbal communications skills Creative and resourceful approach to problem solving Ability to multi-task The ability to work well in a team environment including forming strong working relationships with program leadership Experienced in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions The ability to identify and resolve needs proactively Desire to learn and improve current/future technology and processes What sets you apart: Creative thinking with the ability to multi-task Ability to quickly grasp and apply new information Effectively handle complex assignments Ability to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design Experience with Stage Test development and updates Experience with Cable Block Diagrams, Wire Connection Lists, and other Drawing Types Experience with Requirements Development and Management Experience with Problem Report tracking Experience with IBM Rational tools such as DOORS and Change Very strong technical writing skills Very strong presentation skills Very strong problem solving skills Very strong testing and troubleshooting skills | |
Requirements: | |
Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. |
