Our organization offers a half-day pre-school program in 6 sites throughout Berkshire County. In North Adams, Pittsfield and Great Barrington we also provide full-day child care services for families while they work, go to school, or look for employment.
Family Support Specialist
Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Work - Preference: Preferred
We are currently seeking a Family Support Specialist. The Family Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is to work with families of children enrolled in Berkshire County Head Start (BCHS) to strengthen parent/child relationships and expand the family’s resources. This position uses knowledge of the principles of family engagement to support families in their roles as their child’s first and most important teacher and encourages parent-child interactions that promote, healthy development and enhance the family’s well-being. The Family Support Specialist plays a key role on the inter-disciplinary team providing clinical support to programming and services that are responsive to the diversity of the populations served by the agency.
Ability to collaborate with social service agencies to provide resources and supports to children and families.
Skills to advocate for families in crisis, assisting with problem solving and goal planning to increase their confidence in meeting the needs of their children and family.
Experience with completing clinical evaluations and/or assessments
Demonstrated capacity to build trusting relationships and engage in strengthen based conversations
Experience with facilitating trainings and group discussions
Bachelors’ Degree from an *accredited institution in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Work preferred
Minimum of (3) years’ experience in a role in a family services environment
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
Must be computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
