QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with concentration in recreation administration, physical education, leisure studies/services or a related field is preferred.
- At least two (2) years of full-time recreation experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Principles & techniques of directing group, social and recreational activities.
- Managing recreational programs for community parks, community centers, and/or athletic facilities.
- Recreation site management, including operations & maintenance of these sites.
- Effective supervision skills, scheduling temporary & volunteer staff, scheduling programs, events and activities.
- Enforcing policies & procedures, maintaining files, monitoring & tracking fees & payments.
- Developing interpersonal relationships with a variety of users & sponsors.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, volunteers and the general public.
- Strong technical skills using computers and other equipment or devices needed to perform duties of position
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

This is an office-based job in a dynamic multi-use municipal building. While performing the duties of the Recreation and Special Events Coordinator, the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City.

Operates standard office equipment including computers and keyboards, at efficient speed; and move throughout the municipal building which may include flights of stairs. Lifts/moves objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
HOURS
35 hours per week 8:30AM – 4:00PM
Additional evening and weekend hours may be required.
SALARY RANGE:
Starting rate $23.76 - $25.09 an hour
Annual increases up to $32.91 per hour
