JOB SUMMARY:          Responsible for leading a team of Engineers in the development and Design of Armored Vehicles.  Duties include research and development of new projects, design improvement on existing projects.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Effectively and efficiently lead a team of Engineers that include Design, Electrical, Mechanical, Nesting and Bill of Materials
  • Review Sales Orders and Work Orders for accuracy
  • Develop and implement schedule for individual truck modeling to meet required dates.
  • Create and coordinate production plans to meet the goals of the organization.
  • Collaborate with members of production staff to review designs and resolve manufacturing concerns.
  • Manage ECR (Engineering Change Request) Process and implementation.
  • Improve the design to manufacturing process.
  • Ensure effective maintenance of bills of material for manufactured and purchased parts.
  • Lead the improvement of standard operating procedures, safety, quality control, and training.
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Lead and implement process improvement via design and manufacturing improvement techniques.
  • Hands on design of within SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Ongoing training and development of staff
  • Identify areas of process improvement, cost and waste reduction
  • Work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Undertake relevant training and development as required.
  • Carry out duties within a realistic timeline ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.
  • Exercises discretion and individual judgement with respect to Company matters

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY & OPERATIONAL AUTHORITY:

  • Supervises Engineering staff including Bills of Material, Scheduling and Nesting

 

INTERACTION WITH:

  • Various levels of internal staff within a variety of departments.
  • Customer and vendor interaction.
  • Production, Sales and Purchasing Departments

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

 

EDUCATION:

  • College Degree

 

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Fork truck certification

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Design skills inclusive of the ability to understand and create blueprint design.
  • Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, SolidWorks, Corel, AutoCAD and ProNest
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently while maintaining scheduled deadlines.
  • Ability to take design from concept to build.
  • Mechanical experience and ability
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to maintain focus.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Math skills required (add, subtract, divide, multiply, algorithms and geometric design)
  • Reading abilities required (Including blueprints and schematics)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to pass physical exam.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to exert maximum force to pull and carry objects.
  • Must be able to climb into, onto and under vehicle.
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, and kneeling
  • Must be able to climb into, onto and under vehicle.
  • Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
  • Good hearing
