Position Overview

CT Management Group is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting and financial recordkeeping for our residential property management business in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a small business environment.

Schedule and Employment Details

  • Position: Part-Time Bookkeeper

  • Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week; exact schedule is flexible within daytime hours (for example, a 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. style shift, adjusted as mutually agreed).

  • Work location: On-site in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate daily financial records for multiple properties, including rent receipts, owner draws, and operating expenses.

  • Process accounts payable: review, code, and enter vendor invoices; schedule payments; and maintain organized documentation.

  • Process accounts receivable: record tenant payments, track outstanding balances, and assist with delinquency follow-up when needed.

  • Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations and ensure transactions are properly classified in the general ledger.

  • Assist with payroll-related data (hours, classifications, etc.) for maintenance personnel and other staff in coordination with management and external payroll providers.

  • Prepare simple monthly reports (e.g., income/expense summaries, property-level statements) for owners and management.

  • Support annual tax preparation and periodic audit requests by maintaining organized digital and physical files.

  • Maintain orderly filing systems for leases, vendor contracts, W-9s, and other financial documents.

  • Communicate professionally with owners, tenants, vendors, and the management team regarding billing or account questions.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or small business accounting experience, preferably in property management, real estate, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar), Microsoft Excel, and basic office applications.

  • Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and basic financial statements.

  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple properties and accounts.

  • Dependable, with the ability to work a consistent part-time schedule and some flexibility in exact hours.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
