Description:
The Adams Fire District Fire Department is seeking a motivated, dedicated, and community-oriented individual to join the Adams Fire Department as a firefighter. This position involves protecting life and property through fire suppression, supporting emergency medical services, rescue operations, and public safety education. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, rescues, hazardous material incidents, and other emergency calls Operate firefighting and emergency equipment, including engines, ladders, hoses, and medical gear Provide emergency medical care at the appropriate certification level Participate in fire prevention, inspections, and public education programs Maintain fire apparatus, equipment, and station facilities Engage in ongoing training, drills, and professional development Work collaboratively with other public safety agencies BENEFITS: Competitive salary Comprehensive health insurance Pension plan through the Adams Retirement System Vacation, sick leave, and holiday benefits Job description and employment application are available at the Adams Fire District Office located at 3 Columbia Street, Adams, MA or online at www.adamsfiredistrict.com. Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age to apply High school diploma or GED (required) Must possess a Class D Driver’s License (required) Firefighter I/II certification Must meet all physical, medical, and background requirements PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior firefighting and EMS experience Documented ICS/NIMS certification Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to public service and community engagement PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to perform strenuous physical tasks under extreme conditions, including: Lifting and carrying heavy equipment Climbing ladders and working at heights Operating in hazardous environments (heat, smoke, confined spaces)
