Company Description:Mount Greylock Regional School District includes Lanesborough and Williamstown representing a combined population of 11,000 residents. Our District is comprised of three schools: Lanesborough Elementary (PreK-6), Williamstown Elementary (PreK-6) and Mount Greylock Regional School (7-12). Description: | JOB TITLE: Crossing Guard
REPORTS TO: Principal
POSITION STATEMENT: Our Crossing Guards play a vital role in assisting students who walk to and from school by safely guiding them to cross the street in some of the more well trafficked areas immediately surrounding the school building.
Responsibilities include monitoring vehicle and pedestrian traffic at assigned crossings to assist school children crossing the streets, while providing for the orderly movement of traffic. Individual crossing guards must be able to communicate effectively with school children, parents/guardians, and drivers while working to ensure that children cross the street properly and safely. Individuals must be able to stand for the entire shift and tolerate exposure to all types of weather conditions, maintain a high level of awareness, be reliable and able to work independently and use their best judgment to ensure the safety and security of students during the entry and exit times from school.
- Safely guide pedestrians, especially children, across designated crosswalks. - Monitor traffic flow and ensure the safety of pedestrians at all times. - Follow established procedures and protocols for crossing pedestrians. - Communicate with drivers to ensure they stop and yield to pedestrians. - Report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities. - Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor.
Required Qualifications: High School diploma (or GED).
Must be available to work on school days, Monday through Friday. Shifts are no more than one hour and there are two shifts per day. AM shift is 8:00 AM until approximately 8:35 AM and PM shift is between 3:00 PM until approximately 3:30 PM.
Employment with Mt. Greylock Regional School District is contingent upon satisfactory completion of state and federal background checks as required by law..
Salary: $16.81 per shift. This is an at-will, non- benefited position.
