The Computer Science Department at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science at the assistant professor rank to begin 9/1/2026. This position is essential to develop our AI/data science curriculum, mentor students in AI- and data-driven research projects and build relevant partnerships with regional organizations. This role directly benefits the Software Development concentration by reinforcing real-world practices (deployment, testing, version control) in AI/DS projects, and it strengthens the Data Science Minor in Mathematics by supplying upper-level computing electives that complement its current course offerings. The position carries a 4-4 teaching load. Teaching responsibilities span from introductory programming through advanced AI/DS topics.



Job Requirements:

Requirements:



  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education by the start date for the position.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, C++, and SQL.
  • Expertise in data modeling, machine learning, and applied problem-solving.
  • Ability to develop and teach AI/data science courses.
  • Demonstrated potential for student mentoring and guiding research projects.
  • Ability to teach foundational CS courses in addition to AI/DS specialization.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and research.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in software engineering or industry applications of AI/data science.
  • Proven track record of building partnerships with organizations.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Experience teaching at college or community college level.


Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefitted position within the MSCA union. Salary for this position is $75,000-$85,000. Position starts on 9/1/2026.
