Conduct all necessary tasks related to the operation and maintenance of town roads, storm drains, snow removal, earthwork, tree maintenance, traffic control, and other associated duties as required. Works under the general supervision of the Public Works Operations Supervisor. Work is performed in all weather conditions. Operates trucks, snowplows, spreaders, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, power tools, hand tools, chain saws, mowers, trimmers, shovels, rakes and brooms etc. Have occasional contact with the public requiring tact and sensitivity. Able to follow instruction and cooperate with colleagues. You must wear safety equipment when needed or directed. Must be available outside of regular business hours for snow plowing and other urgent tasks requiring immediate attention. |
Within 6 months of the hire date, the applicant must obtain a Class 2A Massachusetts Hoisting License. The Town reimburses the applicant for the license once obtained. Knowledge, Ability, and Skill preferred but not required. Will train: General understanding of the principles, procedures, and techniques of the maintenance of asphalt and gravel roads, storm water systems, snow removal, earth work, tree work, traffic control, and all other work associated as required. Ability to work on a team and take instructions well. Adhere to all safety standards and protocols. Ability to work calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to perform heavy physical labor for extended periods of time under adverse conditions. Ability to read design plans and construction drawings. |
