Description: | Responsibilities: Provide children exposed to domestic or sexual assault violence with support, advocacy, and assistance, including: - Individual, group, and family counseling in a variety of settings
- Assessing and determining the counseling needs of children and teens and making appropriate referrals as necessary
- Working individually with a non-offending parent or guardian to foster positive parenting skills
- Aiding in providing crisis intervention, information, and referral to those who disclose personal or family abuse
- Outreach, communication, and coordination with outside agencies
- Attending regularly scheduled clinical and program supervision
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Maintain professional boundaries with individuals receiving EFC services, maintain excellent records in the agency database, and adhere to strict guidelines to ensure client confidentiality
Work Hours: 20 hours per week. This position begins at $22.00 per hour plus a $1.00/hour increment for bilingual English/Spanish skills, and additional increments for frequently used languages, special skills, and education, plus year-end bonuses dependent on funding). EFC pays 85% of health insurance premiums and contributes to an FSA. EFC has generous paid leave as well as other benefits. |
Requirements: | Education and Experience: - Bachelor or Associate Degree (may be waived for relevant, comparable level of work or life experience)
- Experience working with children and families affected by trauma, domestic violence, or related issues preferred
Skills and Competencies - Strong commitment and knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, trauma, and child development
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally competent services
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively with community groups
- Effective written and spoken communication, and proficient computer skillls
- Must successfully pass Criminal Record Check-CORI, be found suitable to work with children, and have valid Massachusetts driver’s license and reliable transportation.
